Plants were huge and there was much water everywhere.

Currently atmosphere has only .04% carbon dioxide.
The Ocean soaks up any extra CO2 and the plants
reflect infrared from the Sun helping to keep the earth cool.
Less CO2 causes less plants to reflect the heat.
